Imran Khan calls for resignation of Intelligence Bureau s chief

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday came hard on Intelligence Bureau’s (IB) chief for allegedly visiting ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in London and supporting him in blackmailing his ministers.

He took to Twitter and called for Aftab Sultan, IB chief’s resignation for wasting the taxpayers money, adding, “His duty is to the state not the Sharif family”.

Commenting over revealations made by a current affair programme “Power Play” that IB prepared a report regarding alleged links of parliamentarians with militants and banned outfits, Khan highlighted that role of the secret agency for political victimisation is “equally alarming”.

The IB presented a report to then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and claimed that 37 members of the National Assembly, Senate and provincial assemblies, which all belong to PML-N, have contacts with the banned terrorist groups.

According to media, the former Prime Minister had ordered the IB to prepare a report in this regard for subverting a forward block, for which he had received the information, within the party.

The PTI chairman expressing resentment said that the public institution are destroyed by a mafia by beaching laws and democratic values.
