ISLAMABAD – The federal government has raised the minimum wage to Rs. 16,000 per month for the working class in the country, here on Friday.
The raise came as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz led federal government announced its sixth and last budget for the fiscal year 2018-19 amid a boisterous sitting of the parliament.
The minimum wage has been increased from Rs 15,000 set by the government in budget 2017-18.
The total outlay of the budget announced by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail is estimated at Rs 5.5 trillion.
Finance Minister Miftah Ismail while highlighting the efforts made by the government to help boost the economy, said that the government had revamped the economy after it assumed power in 2013.
Let it be known that the current year’s budget was the first one under the chair of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
