RAWALPINDI – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday reached Uzbekistan on an official visit. In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS met President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meeting, the Uzbek President while appreciating Pakistan’s achievements in the fight against terrorism said that the world needed to recognize Pakistan’s contributions to regional and global peace, the statement said.
The army chief also met Foreign Minister and Secretary of National Security Council of Uzbekistan.
During the meetings, both sides agreed to enhance bilateral security cooperation and continue efforts which bring peace and stability in the region.
Earlier, Gen Bajwa was received by Uzbek Defence Minister Major General Abdusalom Azizov and Chief of General Staff Major General Pavel Ergashev upon arrival.
