ISLAMABAD – The sixth and final budget presentation by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was marred by opposition protests, with lawmakers from the ruling party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf trading barbs with each another inside the National Assembly.
Soon after newly-inducted Finance Minister Miftah Ismail started the budget speech, PTI’s Murad Saeed and PML-N’s Abid Sher Ali exchanged harsh words which aggravated the situation in the lower house of the Parliament.
The altercation followed a brief spat occurred between the state minister for Power and PTI lawmaker Amjad Niazi as the opposition party staged a protest in front of speaker’s dais by tearing down the budget copies.
