CJP suspends VC Faisalabad Medical College in fee hike case

LAHORE – The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Saqib Nisar suspended Faisalabad Medical College Vice Chancellor, Dr Fareed Zafar and also issued a contempt of court notice against him.

A two-member bench of the apex court led by CJP, Saqib Nisar conducted the hearing of suo moto case of fee hike in private medical colleges on Wednesday.

CJP remarked that it has come to his knowledge that private medical colleges were determining their own merit. He said it had come to his knowledge yesterday that Rs642,000 were being received in the account of fees but today it is disclosed that Rs900,000 are being received. He also ordered transfer cases of medical colleges across the country to the apex court.

The chief justice said that apex court would finalize procedure for fee collection, adding it will collect the fee. The apex court telephone to woman lawyer Anjum Waheed and suspended Vice Chancellor Faisalabad Medical College Dr. Fareed Zafar and also issued notice for contempt of court.
