Two sentenced to eight years for hoax call about a future terrorist attack

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Two people were sentenced to eight years in prison by anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday for conveying wrong information to authorities about a terrorist attack on Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore in 2014. It was Judge Justice Zafar Iqbal Hussain who announced the decision.

Kashif and Sonia had passed on false statements about terrorists from Saudia Arabia to launch an attack on the airport. Truth was entirely different when the administrator tried to track down the threat.

Both were ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 50, 000 each by ATC.

After the killing of school children in Peshawar’s Army Public School on 16 December, the government has formulated a new anti-terror line of action.

A National Action Plan to counter terrorism had been developed which was approved in Parliament apart from renewing of capital punishment and resolution to counter religious extremism with crack-downs on terror financing and control of Madressahs.
