DUBAI: With the Pakistan Super League T20 tournament having entered its third year, this time again at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, there has been ample criticism regarding the venues chosen for the series. Although the final is set to take place in Karachi as it did in Lahore last year, the main criticism seems to center around the fact that most of the matches are taking place in Dubai.
In an exclusive interview with The Express Tribune, Peshawar Zalmi’s brand ambassador for 2018, Mahira Khan gave her own opinion regarding the entire debate. “It should definitely happen in Pakistan,” she said.
She further added, “There’ll be nothing better than PSL coming home. Our stadiums getting full. Nothing better than that. If you’re asking me if I’d rather have it at home, yes. I would. But in a way, what is happening here in Dubai is amazing too. All cricket lovers from all over the world are coming here and watching this tournament happen. Which is also a great thing, I think.”
Mahira Khan is joined by Hamza Ali Abbasi as PSL ambassadors as the PSL brand has grown leaps and bounds in the past years and celebrities and movie stars are getting into the action as well. The music video for Peshawar Zalmi this year has showcased Mahira, Hamza Ali Abbassi and the Zalmi players in an extremely powerful video where the Pakhtun influence is clearly visible especially since there is a fierce traditional Pakhtun dance.

The ‘Hum Zalmi’ anthem, sung by singer Junaid Khan is as powerful as its visuals and there has been talk of it being the best one out of the other anthems this year!
