COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa approves plan to support census

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has approved plan to provide support for conducting 6th Population and Housing Census.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor up to 200,000 troops will be deployed for conducting the procedure.

The long-awaited census will be started from March 15.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered the government to hold the population census in the country from March 15, 2017 to May 15, 2017.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by then Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer jamali resumed the proceedings of the population census delay case and passed orders.
