LAHORE (Web Desk) – A telephonic conversation between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and PTI leader Arif Alvi about PTV attack during Islamabad sit-ins surfaced on social media and national TV channels on Friday.
According to this alleged audio tape, Arif Alvi tells Imran Khan that the party workers have entered Pakistan Television (PTV). In reply to that, Imran Khan welcomes the attack on national broadcaster, and orders to maintain pressure on the government in order to oust Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif.
Arif Alvi has tweeted regarding the controversy stating that he had resigned from a National Assembly (NA) committee because a huge file of telephone records was presented for probe.
Another tweet states that he is a stickler for privacy. He further states that different conversations have been merged together to form a controversial statement.
PTI leader Imran Ismail, while talking to a TV channel, said that the tape did not prove that the party was behind the attack on PTV.
“We vehemently deny that PTI was directly or indirectly involved in any violent activity,” Ismail added.
