LAHORE- Recently, it has been announced that the iconic Pakistani singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, will be honoured by the prestigious Oxford University at a ceremony which will be held on June 26.
He has been listed among the eight people who will be honoured by the institute this year for their exceptional talent.
The university described Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as a “Pakistani singer, primarily of Qawwali, a devotional music of the Muslim Sufis.”
They further stated that Rahat Ali Khan has sung more than 50 title tracks of television serials and over 100 film songs in both Pakistani media industry and Bollywood.
Oxford University will also bestow honorary degrees during a ceremony called ‘Encaenia’ to Jennifer Doudna, Andrea Ghez, Shafi Goldwasser, Daniel Kahneman and Simon Wessely, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
We wish Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan well on receiving such a credible award and making Pakistan proud yet again.
