PM Nawaz chairs high level meeting to discuss earthquake aftermath

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high level meeting to review the situation after Monday’s earthquake that caused massive damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa and Gilgit Baltistan.

During the meeting Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) briefed the premier about losses and ongoing rescue operation in affected areas.

Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) was also invited to the meeting to brief about the damages caused to roads and bridges.

According to the statement Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar, federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and federal minister for information Pervez Rasheed were also be present in the meeting.

Meanwhile Pakistan army has established as many as 26 centres to distribute ration and other relief goods in earthquake hit areas of KPK and Gilgit Baltistan, spokesman said.
