Saif Ali Khan thinks Bollywood and its celebs are treated like dustbin

MUMBAI – Bollywood’s chotay nawab, Saif Ali Khan, who delivered a series of flops in the past couple of years including Rangoon, Chef, and Kaalakaandi, is slowly heading back to stardom.

His latest offering, Netflix’s Sacred Games, has done exceptionally well and has been renewed for another season. The trailer of Khan’s upcoming film, Bazaar, also appears to be promising.

Sharing his views about the launch of the trailer, Saif said that he was thankful to Nikhil Advani for offering him a role like this one. “My character in the film is very successful and ruthless, which was fun to play,” he said.

Khan further added “I recall speaking to Nikhil and saying that they are many films on the stock market which I don’t understand. He told me that it’s not about numbers and it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand the stock market. It’s about good and bad: it’s about crossing lines.”

In the film, Saif plays an ambitious, and unscrupulous, Mumbai stock trader who worships money. The film also stars Radhika Apte in a glamorous role and Chitrangada Singh as Saif’s wife.

Considering the film is centered around the financial sector, when asked about people who flee the country after committing financial fraud, Khan said such acts are “terrible” and “horrible”.

“We want less corruption, fewer scams. We (Bollywood) have a very honest line of work; we try to make films, we try to sell films. Media and audiences make an example out of movie stars,”shared Saif Ali Khan.

The actor continued that the industry and celebrities are treated like dustbins by the media. “People say that one did this, one did that and the public is happy. It [Bollywood] is like a dustbin… You need people to blame but the people who should be blamed are the ones who are stealing your money.” stated the Dil Chahta Hai movie star.
