Abu Dhabi crown prince contacts PM Imran, Narendra Modi for de-escalation

ABU DHABI – Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke separately to Pakistani and Indian prime ministers on the ongoing tension between the two counties.

According to a communique issued on Thursday, the UAE leader discussed the recent developments concerning India and Pakistan and emphasised the importance behind dealing with these worrying developments.

The Emirati official called for working towards easing tensions between the two countries, prioritising dialogue and communication between the parties.

The Abu Dhabi crown prince stressed the UAE’s will to support positive relations between the two neighbouring countries, noting the common historical and cultural ties that bring them together.

Sheikh Mohammed underscored the UAE’s keenness on ensuring peace and stability in India-Pakistan ties, expressing his great confidence in the two countries’ leadership prioritising peaceful dialogue in dealing with the developments that have occurred in the past few days.

The development comes amid hostility between India and Pakistan in the backdrop of Pulwama attack in Indian Occupied Kashmir for which New Delhi pinned blame on Islamabad without any evidence.

Indian Air Force violated the Line of Control on Tuesday before being whisked away by Pakistan Air Force.

A day later, Indian Air Force again violated the Line of COntrol but this time Pakistan Air Force fighter jets shot down two Indian aircraft, capturing a pilot alive who would be released on Friday as per the announcement made by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
