Waqar Younis lashes out at Afridi in World T20 performance report

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Waqar Younis, the head coach of Pakistan cricket team lashed out at Shahid Khan Afridi and other senior team members in a report to be presented to an inquiry committee, local media reported on Monday.

According to Express TV, Waqar, has prepared a report citing a number of reasons, including fitness of players caused main reason for failure in the World T20. The report will be presented to an inquiry committee tomorrow (Tuesday).

In his report, Younis further states that the players were unable to execute the game plan during the World T20 where they lost three out of the four matches in Group 2.

The report also criticises T20I captain Shahid Afridi specific decisions during Pakistan’s loss to India, New Zealand and Australia. Moreover, the 44-year-old recommended that drastic measures need to be taken for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan team was able to bag only win in their World T20 campaign and that too against Bangladesh.

Earlier, Shahid Afridi and Waqar Younis exchanged harsh words in the dressing room after defeat in match against Australia.

In an emotional address to the team on last Thursday, Younis said the match against Australia is likely to be his last as head coach.

PCB Shahryar Khan confirmed that the board had received the head coach’s report. “No truth to rumours of my resignation”, Khan added.
