Punjab government orders to arrest Sheikh Rashid: reports

RAWALPINDI – Punjab government on Friday ordered the concerned authorities to arrest Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid.

According to Samaa TV, Rashid, whose famed residence, Lal Haveli has already been put under strict siege and police have choked off all roads and pathways leading to his residence, is very likely to be arrested as directives have been issued by the Punjab Government.

Sheikh Rashid had earlier reiterated he will address the rally at 2 pm on Friday at Lal Haveli.

Last night, Rashid was forced to spend night outside his residence as hundreds of containers were impounded by policemen at Murree Road, Liaqat National Bagh, Raja Bazar, Gawalmandi Chowk and Fawara Chowk.

In a video message, Sheikh Rashid appealed the nation to come out of their houses to join protest.

“We will continue to fight for the prosperity of the country by defeating the thieves and crooked politicians”, he added.

Sheikh Rashid appealed to Rawalpindi people to have a good breakfast and head for the rally disregarding the containerized barricades.

He claimed that local administration has removed sound systems, lights, stage and vehicles from the rally venue while several workers have also been detained.

Law enforcers on Thursday night had also sealed Bani Gala in Islamabad by placing containers ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled today.
