LAHORE – Unknown assailants have killed a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the vicinity of Kahna police station in Lahore, local media reported.
The leader, who has been identified as Malik alias Shaukat Khokhar, came under attack when he was overseeing construction work at his Dera in Kehna on Wednesday night. During the firing, a brother of the deceased and his servant were injured.
Following the incident, family of Shaukat blocked the road near Shaukat Khanum Chowk by placing the body and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
The police suspect that the killing is the result of an old enmity between two groups, Malik Shaukat Group and Ghulam Mustafa Group.
In 2007, Ghulam Mustafa Group had shot dead a member of Shaukat Group and in revenge later killed a nephew of Mustafa group, Geo News reported.
