ISLAMABAD – A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitudes hit Swat and its adjoining areas on Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), tremors measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale were felt in Swat, Malakand, Battagram, Dir Bala and surrounding areas.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or loss of property and the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region with a depth of 200 kilometres.
The earthquake resulted in panic among the locals and they rushed out of their homes, shops and other buildings reciting verses of the Holy Quran.
