Veteran Bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor has had to clarify why he only did one scene in Nandita Das’s take on ‘Manto’ after fans have taken his comments about the film in a wrong sense.
The 65 year old actor posted a tweet on Sunday which aimed at clearing out any animosity “mischief mongers” might try to create.
He writes in the tweet, “I have done one scene in Nandita Das’ film ‘Manto’ in a cameo. Just for the respect and admiration I have for her.”

Kapoor further added that his interview where he said working in ‘Manto’ was a “wrong call” were skewed out of porpotion and he added in his tweet, “Some mischief monger has tried to create a wedge between her and me. Absolutely untrue! I support the film and wish her all the best at Cannes Film Festival.”
The historical period drama film about the controversial writer of the subcontinent, Saadat Hasan Manto is to be the only Indian film in the Un Certain Regard category of the Cannes Film Festival which will be held from the 8th till the 19th of May.
The highly anticipated film also stars the likes of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rasika Dugal and Tahir Raj Bhasin.
However fans of the film weren’t entirely happy with this response;
