GUJRANWALA (Staff Reporter/Agencies) – An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday granted a physical remand for 10 days of nine Islamic State (IS) terrorists.
On Monday, Counter Terrorism Department of Punjab Police conducted raid on a cell of terrorists in Daska and arrested nine suspected terrorists of Islamic State (IS) hailing from Punjab. Huge cache of weapons, explosive stuffs, laptops and CDs r were recovered from their possession.
The suspects were identified as Jawad Ahmad, Amir Sohail, Ijaz Ahmad, Adnan Babar, saeed Ahmad, Yasir Ali, Hamza Imtiaz and Waqas Ahmad.
Preliminary investigation report revealed that they were upholding IS ideology and promoting anti democratic literature. They wanted to expand organizational network in Punjab through new enrolment. 3 among these suspects had received military training as well.
They used social media and skype to contact each other in order to avoid arrests. They used video clips to lure people to the philosophy of IS and their key aim was to foment hatred against the law enforcement agencies. Another IS terrorist identified as Waqas alias Rizwan was killed in skirmishes with Syrian forces, report said.
Talking to the media, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the suspects wanted to take part in militant activities and they were in contact with Abu Muavia, a militant operating in Syria, through Viber, instant messaging smartphone applications.
