ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Pakistan to attend the 19th annual SAARC summit which is scheduled in Islamabad this year, said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi.
In an interview, Fatemi said that dates for the upcoming SAARC Summit in Islamabad are being worked out in consultation with member states. The summit will probably be held in Novemberthis year, he said.
To a question, he said the Joint Investigation Team will complete probe into Pathankot attack this week. and afterwards the team will also visit India.
About the Afghan peace process, Prime Minister Special Assistant said Pakistan and China had the supportive roles and they want Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process to proceed.
Earlier Narendra Modi visited Pakistan on December 25, 2015 to extend best wishes to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his birthday and granddaughter’s marriage.
