ABU DHABI – Upcoming World Cup hosts Qatar hammered home side the United Arab Emirates 4-0 to reach their first Asian Cup final on Tuesday.
First-half goals from Boualem Khoukhi and Almoez Ali silenced a highly partisan, bottle-throwing home crowd before Hasan Al-Haydos and Hamid Ismaeil scored late on.
Ali’s eighth goal of the tournament equalled the record held by Iranian legend Ali Daei. The 2022 World Cup hosts will face four-time champions Japan in Friday’s final.
