ISLAMABAD – The chairman of National Accountability Bureau, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal has rejected the claims that the bureau was solely targeting a single party.
Talking to journalists in Lahore on Thursday, Iqbal said that antigraft watchdog was not against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz only, adding that the bureau was not following any political agenda.
NAB will continue its actions against corrupt elements in accordance with law without any influence, he declared.
The NAB chairman also rejected the perception that the bureau was only active in Punjab, saying NAB was taking action where corruption is reported.
Questioning a corrupt person was not a sin, he said.

Regarding the proceedings of NAb ahead of elections, the chairman said people (politicians) should appear before NAB when summoned in any investigation and at the same time they can run their election campaign.
He further said that no action was taken beyond law and Constitution under his command, requesting not to politicise NAB as the anti-corruption watchdog was established to fight corruption and serve people.

Talking about those who were not taking NAB’s summons seriously, Justice Iqbal said: “NAB’s notice is not some kind of (party) invitation. A notice is issued in accordance with law and it should be taken seriously. Those not following the law will be made to do so.
In reply to a question about bringing back former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan and Hussain, the NAB chairman said he had approved initiating the process of bringing them back.
