Dr Shahid Masood sent to Adiala Jail in PTV corruption case

ISLAMABAD – Television anchor Dr Shahid Masood who is facing corruption charges, has been sent to Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand by a local court.

Masood on Thursday was produced before a duty judge by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after his five-day physical remand in the Pakistan Television corruption case ended.

The FIA had requested an extension in his physical remand; however, the judge denied the request and sent the former PTV head to Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand instead.

The Islamabad High Court had on November 24 remanded Masood into five-day custody of FIA in the PTV corruption case.

The News One anchor, who was appointed PTV chairman during the tenure of Pakistan Peoples Party-led government, is alleged to have signed an agreement with a fake company to obtain the media rights for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which dealt a blow to the state-owned television channel.
