Aftab Sherpao escapes suicide attack in Charsadda

CHARSADDA (Web Desk) – Former interior minister and Qaumi Watan Party chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao was targeted in a suicide attack in Charsadda on Thursday evening.

Luckily, the MNA, who had gone to attend a Alamzeb Omerzai’s death anniversary, remained unharmed.

According to reports, Sherpao was passing through Omerzai area when a suicide bomber tried to hit his convoy.

Sherpao’s son Sikandar Sherpao and a member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were also accompanying him.

According to DPO Charsadda Shafiullah, the attacker first fired at Sherpao’s convoy. When his guards fired back, he blew himself up.

He said the blast killed one policeman and there are fears the death toll could rise. He suspected the suicide bomber aged between 22 and 23.
