JAMMU – A woman in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir lodged a complaint with police, accusing a soldier of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) of raping her and filming the incident inside the CRPF Group Centre at Bantalabcamp.
In his written complaint to Domana police station here the other day, the 24-year-old woman who belongs to the Mandi area of Poonch district said that three CRPF officials took her inside their camp where one of them raped her and put her in illegal confinement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the woman said that the culprit soldier filmed the assault and threatened to release the video on social media if she disclosed the incident to police or someone else.
“I had alighted from a bus around 7.30 pm and was on way to my relative’s home. I lost my way and was intercepted by three personnel in uniform outside their camp half an hour later. They took me inside on the pretext of helping me and instead one of them raped me,” the woman said in her complaint.
Following the complaint, a case under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code, including rape and wrongful confinement, has been registered against unknown personnel.
Indian Express reported that three CRPF personnel have been suspended and a departmental investigation has been initiated against them in this regard.
