Verdict in graft cases will not be accepted, declares Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asserted on Monday that artificial cases were lodged against the Sharif family, declaring that the results of such cases would not be accepted.

Talking to newsmen outside the accountability court in Islamabad, the former premier expressed that those giving these decisions would regret their action as this was not in the country’s interest.

Decrying his disqualification in the Panama Papers case, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz ‘Quaid for life’ claimed that had he been allowed to work, he would have taken the country to new heights in terms of development and progress.

To a query regarding the power show staged by his political rival, Imran Khan at Minar-e-Pakistan, Nawaz said they have been listening to Imran’s hollow claims for over several years.

The 68-year-old politician also compared Lahore to Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta and claimed that there was a visible difference in the level of development among the provincial capital cities.

Nawaz Sharif expressed that it was his hard work and commitment which brought infrastructure projects to light, however, lamented that he would not be able to inaugurate these.

Regretting that multiple quarters continued to obstruct the functioning of state machinery, Nawaz said that a ‘new Pakistan’ would have emerged, had he been allowed to complete his tenure.

Speaking to reporters inside the courtroom, Nawaz claimed that we had learnt nothing from history, in the backdrop of recent detente between China and India, with the tour of Narendra Modi to Beijing.
