KARACHI: Pakistan People’s party (PPP) has responded to Darul Uloom Haqqania administrator Maulana Samiul Haq’s threats against party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Zardari had earlier criticized the KP government for allocating Rs. 300 million to the seminary in this year’s budget, a move which elicited a threatening response from the Maulana.
A statement issued by PPP Members of National Assembly (MNAs) Amir Munawar Talpur, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani and Nawab Ali Wassan quipped that those with the loudest voices found it hard to do anything practical, Samaa TV reported.
“It is the PPP, which has been facing a media trial since the past seven years. Terrorist organisations under the aegis of seminaries like that of Haqqania prevented it from election campaigns, murdered Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, kidnapped PPP Punjab’s former Governor Salman Taseer’s son Shahbaz Taseer, kidnapped former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Gilani and murdered former federal minister Shahbaz Bhatti,” it claimed.
The statement comes a day after Sami said: “If Zardari opens his mouth again, I will let out some secrets, after which he will be unable to stand in front of his Western masters.”
