India seeks recovery of soldier held captive by Pakistan

DELHI (Web Desk) – Indian Home minister Rajnath Singh has confirmed that the country was in a bid to recover soldier held captive by the Pakistan Army after the retaliatory action here on Thursday.

“The government has taken note of the media reports that say our soldier is in Pakistan captivity. India will take up the matter with Pakistan,” television channels reported Singh as saying.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following Indian claims of a  “surgical strike” inside Pakistan but in retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have killed multiple Indian soldiers along with capturing a troop. dead bodies of Indian soldiers were still lying unattended at LoC according to media reports.

The 22-year-old soldier Chandu Babulal Chauhan was reportedly captured by Pakistani soldiers after they responded to Indian aggression across Line of Control.

Although India termed it a routine matter but the captivity of Indian soldier was dubbed as a major blow back to a country claiming a “Surgical Strike”.

The international community expressed concerns after the strained ties between Pakistan and India got worsened. Top international players including US and China have stressed the need for early resolution of the conflict through peaceful dialogue.
