Hafiz Saeed’s house arrest is policy decision, says DG ISPR

RAWALPINDI – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) DG Major General Asif Ghafoor stated on Tuesday that Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed has been placed under house arrest under a policy decision.

On Monday, authorities have put JuD chief and four others under house arrest.

The DG said, “This was a policy decision taken by the state institution in national interest and several institutions will have to play their role,” adding that further details will be available in coming days.

During his media briefing, he said that all institutions had played their due role in combating terrorism, adding that peace was gradually being established. He said that 70,000 Pakistanis had lost their lives in the war on terror.

Talking about the situation in Karachi, Ghafoor said the law and order situation had improved, adding that over 9,000 operations were carried out in the city to ensure peace.

He said that an inquiry report over the matter of Dawn leaks would be released soon.

The army spokesman termed India’s claim of surgical strike as ‘drama’, and warned that befitting response will be given against any misstep by the neighbouring country.
