Ahsan Iqbal denies calling Pakistanis corrupt

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has denied saying that the Pakistani people were the most corrupt nation in the world. The statement was earlier attributed to him after he appeared in an interview with a private TV channel.

When contacted, Ahsan Iqbal told Daily Pakistan that his answer was distorted and presented out of context. “I have no doubt that Pakistani people are very much honest and committed,” the minister clarified.

The minister also took exception to the statement attributed to him. “I will take action against those who are spreading false news,” he added.

“I consider it extremely important to deny this news published by some section of the media. They have totally misrepresented and incorrectly portrayed my answer,” he said.
