COAS Bajwa reluctant to directly intervene in politics, claims Hamid Mir

ISLAMABAD – Senior journalist and analyst Hamid Mir has said that since his appointment, General Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed has been trying to make efforts to keep the army and its agencies away from direct intervention in politics.

Talking to a private TV channel, Hamid Mir claimed that since the appointment of General Qamar Bajwa as COAS, his whole efforts have been to avoid direct intervention in the politics.

Without disclosing the names of politicians, Mir claimed that the politicians notorious for being turncoats and leaving the parties in difficult times are waiting for a ‘phone call’ which they do not seem to receive anytime soon indicating the army’s lack of interest.

“Though they have received offers from PML-Q, they are awaiting a phone call to finally to take the decision,” Mir added hinting at the security establishment’s reluctance to influence the events in the country’s political discourse.
