RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – The Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who is in Turkey on special invitation by the Turkish government, witnessed both phases of a multinational military exercise “EFES” near Turkey’s city of Izmir.
According Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt. Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa, Turkish Chief of General Staff General Hulusi Akar welcomed the army chief upon his arrival.

Bajwa said a contingent of Pakistani armed forces along with the troops participating from Turkey, United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Azerbaijan participated in the ‘Combined Joint Live Fire Exercise’.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish defense minister also witnessed the multinational military drill.

The Turkish President held a separate meeting with Gen Raheel and thanked him for Pakistan’s participation and his personal presence during the military exercise, the ISPR chief added.
