ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has sought an explanation from Nehal Hashmi over his controversial statement.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi triggered a political storm by threatening the members of the joint investigation team (JIT) and Supreme Court judges of dire consequences after their retirement for probing Sharif family in connection with Panama Papers case.
She said this in an interview while responding to questions about the statement of PML-N leader Senator Nehal Hashmi about accountability of Sharif family.
The minister of state said that the Prime Minister strongly believes in accountability.
She said that Nehal Hashmi’s remarks are his personal opinion.
She said that PML-N believes in the supremacy of the constitution and law. Nehal Hashmi, warning those who are conducting accountability of Sharif family, said in a public rally, “We will make this land (Pakistan) very difficult for you and your children. You are now in service but will retire one day. We will not leave you then.” Hashmi also threatened Imran Khan and said, “The nation will also make things very difficult for those who live in Bani Gala.”
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly reacted to statements given by PML-N senator and said it will not allow any conspiracy of government to be successful against the judiciary or Panama JIT.-Online
