KARACHI – Ramzan shows have once again become pompous, entertaining and exciting in full swing as game shows and quiz programs offer extravagant gifts.
In one of their latest episodes of Geo Khelo Pakistan, anchors Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar made three men to wear saaris as a mandatory task to win the game show.

The viral video showing the men wearing saaris has been widely criticised by the viewers who deemed the act as ‘unethical’ and a violation of PEMRA’s guidelines stipulated particularly for Ramzan transmissions this year.
Cross-dressing, a taboo in Pakistani society, is seen as a violation of Islamic values. Some observers have criticised the timing of the act as the holy month is still in its initial days.
PEMRA has also constituted a committee to keep an eye on the Ramazan transmission on all satellite TV channels, licensed by the regulatory body.
The four-member committee has been formed on the directives of Islamabad High Court. The committee formed by the media watchdog will monitor whether the Ramazan guidelines that were issued to all satellite TV channels are being followed or not and in case of violation, immediate action will be taken as per law.
Pemra had recently issued show cause notices to three TV channels, including Geo Entertainment, for violating the guidelines regarding Ramazan transmission.
