Marriyum Aurangzeb replaces Pervaiz Rashid as Information and Broadcasting Minister

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minsiter Nawaz Sharif has appointed Marriyam Aurangzeb as the state minister for Information and Broadcasting.

The formal notification for Marriyam Aurangzeb appointment will be issued shortly, officials said on Monday.

Daughter of PML-N Senator Mushahidullah Khan, Marriyam Aurangzeb has been a member of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz since 2013.

She has replaced Senator Perviaz Rashid who had resigned from the ministry last week for letting a leaked story on top secret meeting published.

The new Information minister was educated at Federal Government College, Islamabad (BA), Quaid-i-Azam University (MSc, Economics) and King's College London (MSc, Environment and Development). She occupies one of the 60 seats in the National Assembly reserved for women.
