SHARJAH – Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir on Monday made the news, not for his bowling, but for his fielding. After picking up an outstanding catch to dismiss Darren Bravo, he broke the record for maximum number of Tests taken before taking a catch in the format.
Playing in his 20th Test, Amir claimed the catch to dismiss Bravo off the bowling of Zulfiqar Babar, when he ran and leapt to take a superb catch, that will certainly go into contention for one of the best grabs in 2016.
Amir broke the record held by Geoff Pullar of England, who his first catch in his 18th Test, Glenn McGrath is third on the list with 16 matches while Mohammad Sami, who played for the Men in Green in the World T20 earlier this year, took his first Test catch in his 15th game.
Also part of the list is Jerome Taylor, who took his first catch in his 12th match for the West Indies.
