WASHINGTON (APP) – The United States has expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s latest efforts to expand bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan towards security of the landlocked country.
“We’ve long said that we welcome the prospect that helps deepen cooperation between neighboring Afghanistan and Pakistan”, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said.
She was commenting on Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s visit to Kabul, where he had meetings with top Afghan leaders and pledged cooperation for Afghan security amid ongoing transition at the end of the war.
“We know that obviously there’s a one-day meeting to discuss security cooperation, so certainly we think that falls into the category of efforts to deepen cooperation, which we would support”, the spokesperson added.
