Live-action Aladdin debuts trailer at the Grammys featuring Will Smith s Genie

LOS ANGELES – Will Smith’s Genie makes his debut in the new full-length trailer for Disney’s live-action film Aladdin, which aired during the 2019 Grammys Sunday night (Feb. 10).

The preview for the update on the animated classic opens with Aladdin’s adventure beginning and ends with Genie — who, as promised, is indeed blue — introducing himself. “You really don’t know who I am? Genie, wishes, lamp? None of that ringing a bell?” he asks Aladdin, played by Mena Massoud.

The live-action remake of Disney’s popular 1992 animated feature stars Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the one and only Genie. Opposite the three leads is Marwan Kenzari as scheming vizier Jafar.

New characters include Nasim Perdad as Dalia, Jasmine’s loyal handmaiden, and Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, one of Jasmine’s suitors. A previous teaser showed off the Agrabah landscape and ended with Aladdin reaching for the lamp.
