Women in Pakistan are persuading Indian women to say no to war

While the tension between India and Pakistan is escalating, people from across the border are sending out messages of peace using the hashtag #SayNoToWar.

Twitter users from both sides of the border, who were sending out tweets using this hashtag believe that war is not the best solution. While on one hand, thousands call for peace to prevail, hundreds continued to advocate for bloodshed and war.

Women and feminist organisations from Pakistan are trying to persuade Indian women to call for peace and humanity.

A Pakistan-based independent socialist-feminist political organisation, Women Democratic Front, shared a video on their Facebook page. The women, holding placards that read “Women to women across the border”, “women for peace” and “#SayNoToWar”, urged Indian women to join hands to say no to war.

Their Facebook post read:

Women & children suffer the most in wars started mostly by men.

#SayNoToWar

Humein jang nahe aman chahiyea, humein bombs nahe qalam chahiyea. Let’s build a peaceful world for our children on both sides of the border.

Detestation has been widely spread across the social media on both sides of the border in the last few days, scores of Pakistani women are tweeting using #AntiHateChallenge to speak out against war and terrorism.
