COAS, UK Defence Secretary discuss security cooperation

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – British Secretary of State for Defence Michael Fallon called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, at Pakistan Army General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

According to officials, the two high-ups discussed matters related to defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and Britain, besides exchanging views over further enhancing defence and training collaboration.

ISPR said the UK Defense Secretary appreciated Pak Army’s sacrifices in operation Zarb-e- Azb operation, and efforts for peace and stability in the region, Samaa TV reported.

Michael Fallon was accorded Guard of Honour on his arrival at the GHQ where he laid floral wreath on monument of Pakistan Army’s martyrs.

Earlier, the British Secretary of State for Defence held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed cooperation in trade, investment and education sectors.

Matters pertaining to regional situation were also discussed during the meeting, said a press release.
