KARACHI – Late Nazia Hassan’s brother Zoheb Hassan has said, Pakistan’s pop queen’s song Dosti and Disco Deewane will be playing at the closing ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a tribute to the late singer.
The singer said on Twitter, “I am pleased to offer our song Dosti to PSL. It will feature along with Disco Deewane as a special Tribute to my (late) sister Nazia Hassan at the HBL PSL closing ceremony in Karachi.”

As a few days ago, Hassan had accused PSL of copyright infringement over the duo’s iconic song Disco Dewane, which was sang by Aima Baig at the opening ceremony on February 14. He had expressed shock and anger in a tweet over the rendition by the franchise without prior permission. He had also threatened to take legal action on the act.

He had stated “I was shocked to see that a reputable platform like PSL used our track Disco Dewane without our prior permission. Outright infringement of intellectual property should be condemned and I am going to take a legal stand on this one!”.

Nazia Hassan, The pioneer of Pakistan’s music industry, had died on August 13, 2000, at the age of 35, in London, following a prolonged battle with lung cancer. She left a gap in the music industry which no other star can fulfill ever.
This legendary singer was born on April 3, 1965, sprung to popularity through PakistanTelevision’s (PTV) programme Sung Sung and shot to unexpected fame to become one of Pakistan’s most famous celebrities in the 70s and 80s a pride for the country.
She had also lent vocals for Bollywood movie also and her song Aap Jaisa Koe is still a hit number after many decades.
The closing ceremony of the fourth edition of PSL will be held at Karachi’s National Stadium on March 17.
