Several PPP workers held after clashes at Nadra Chowk as Bilawal appears before NAB

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad’s Nadra Chowk has turned into a battlefield as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his father, former president Asif Ali Zardari appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) today in the money laundering case.

A large number of PPP workers had gathered outside the NAB headquarters on the arrival of PPP leadership at NAB headquarters. They raised slogans in favour of their party leadership and removed the blockades while trying to move towards NAB office.

According to media reports, the PPP workers and police exchanged harsh words and police baton-charged the PPP workers after they were trying to enter the NAB office, arresting dozens of them.

The supporters got furious after the police made the arrests of PPP workers, and shifted them to various police stations of capital. A woman trying to stop a police mobile was also arrested.

According to the reports, one person got injured during the clash and was rushed to a hospital.

The NAB had sought security from Islamabad administration and had written a letter to Islamabad police. Heavy contingents of police and rangers were deployed in the area in view of Bilawal and Zardari’s visit.

Meanwhile, the NAB will hand over a questionnaire comprising 100 questions to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the fake bank accounts case.
