LAHORE – Pakistani acclaimed Sufi mastero Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has announced to establish a trust to help the artists who are in need of assistance. The trust will include famous players, artists and known personalities.
According to the media reports, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan along with music producer Salman Ahmed, acting chairman of the trust, will provide assistance to artists that are out of work at their doorstep.
The ace guitarist Salman Ahmed while having a talk with local news channel “Geo News” stated that “It will be a self-help basis trust and we will not seek donations from anyone to help the deserving artists”.

He also stated that the Trust will provide financial help to the deserving artist without any publicity and by approaching them in their house. The work will also be found for the artists who did not have any job, he said.
This is important to point out here that Punjab government had also announced a project for the social welfare of the artists. But its announcement still confined to the papers and as such no practical steps have been taken for their betterment so far.
The artists, who are needy, aged or out of work will be the trust’s priority. The trust will work independently to raise funds for the artists.
