Internet no more required for booking Careem

LAHORE –  Internet has always been a compulsion while booking any cab, bike or other vehicles while using the Careem application. But not anymore, as the world famous ride-hailing app is coming up with an option to solve this issue.

To come around this problem, the company has announced the launch of Careem On-Call which allows users to book a car via phone call or SMS for as low as Rs 25.

“Careem On-Call is a big step towards inclusive growth which aims to bring people with limited access to internet or smartphone, into providing easy mobility. We will be creating thousands of pickup points across Pakistan where people will be able to book a ride with a simple SMS or a call,” said Asad Haider Khan, General Manager South, Careem.

In the first phase of the launch, Careem On-Call is available for bike only and is serving in 10 locations in Karachi including; Amma Tower, Civic Centre, Cantt Station, Shaheen Complex, Karachi University Maskan Gate, Water Pump, Teen Talwar, Nipa Chowrangi, Millenium Mall and Jinnah Hospital while the ride-hailing giant plans on expanding throughout the city eventually. Each location has a unique code that is only for that specific area.

Through Careem On-Call, customers will book their rides by either calling 8990 or sending an SMS on the same number which will then direct them to type or say their unique location. Once the location is confirmed, they will receive a message within a minute and the captain will then be on their way. In case of a cancellation, the users can call or SMS in 8990 and cancel their ride with ease.
