Hashwani s murderer is from al-Qaeda: police

KARACHI (Web Desk) – A target killer arrested earlier this week in the sprawling metropolis of Karachi is stated to have been from banned outfit al-Qaeda, police officials said on Friday.

Hashim, who was arrested from North Nazimabad last Tuesday following the killing of a garment factory manager Karim Hashwani and his driver, has confessed to having killed at least nine people, including police officials in Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan, Baghdadi and Ferozabad areas.

Police claimed Hashim is a member of al-Qaeda’s Abdullah Omar Khorasani group and had come to Karachi from Charsadda, notably to kill Hashwani.

According to the details provided by police, the target killer said he had come to the city on the directives of a person named Ikram, who had ordered him to kill Hashwani.

Having reached Sohrab Goth, Hashim was allegedly picked by another man, Khalid, who took him to a house in Korangi, where he stayed for two days.

Hashim was provided weapons by Ikram and Khalid to carry out the murder on sectarian grounds.
Police further said that Hashim received his training in Charsadda and had participated in the Afghan war as well.
