ISLAMABAD Web Desk) – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the national economy is expected to grow around five percent during the current fiscal year.
Speaking at a meeting of the Economic Advisory Council in Islamabad, he said it will be a hallmark achievement of the PML-N government.
He said inflation has also been stable.
The Minister highlighted the initiatives taken by the government to eliminate bottlenecks in the energy sector.
He said seven thousand megawatts of new generation capacity would be added to the national grid by 2018 to overcome the energy crisis.
The Economic Advisory Council endorsed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s proposal for signing a Charter of Economy by all political parties.
Participants of the meeting agreed that economic development of the country should be above all other considerations and remain so irrespective of the change of regimes.
The meeting also expressed consensus on continued economic reforms.
Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Tariq Bajwa apprised the meeting about the reform measures being carried out by FBR to broaden the tax base and improve tax administration.
