ABU DHABI (Web Desk) – First Test match of three match series between England and Pakistan has on Saturday finished without producing any result at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
According to details, Pakistan won the toss in 1st Test and decided to bat first and scored 523 for the loss of 8 wickets and declared its innings.
Shoaib Malik scored 245 runs for Pakistan whereas Asad Shafiq also scored a ton, Ben stokes took 4 wickets from England side.
In reply to Pakistan’s 523, England came even stronger and scored 598-9 in its first innings, English skipper scored a double ton and got out on 263 runs. Wahab Riaz took 3 wickets and Shoaib Malik grabbed 2 wickets for Pakistan.
It was a historic match as many records were broken in this match, Younis Khan became the highest Test runs scorer for Pakistan in this match, Shoaib Malik played a comeback match after 5 years and scored double ton, Shoaib Malik and Shafiq broke record of 5th wicket partnership against England, English skipper Cook played a longest innings by any English player in the history, also he scored a first double ton against Pakistan.
England gave 75 runs lead to the hosts but Pakistan’s 2nd innings was a nightmare for them and English bowlers wrapped up Pakistani batting line up in just 55 overs on 173 runs, Misbah ul haq was the top scorer for Pakistan in the second innings.
Adil Rashid who did not get any wicket in the first innings was the pick of the bowlers and took 5 wickets in the 2nd innings.
England got 99 runs to win in 19 overs, in reply they were right on the money unless loosing fourth wicket down.
Though England began their last inning with a winning attitude but changed gear in the last hour as they lost 4th wicket.
Malik and Zulfiqar Baber took two wickets each in 2nd innings.
Match scores: Pakistan 523-8 and 173 all out
England 598-9 and 74-4.
