ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday decided to start inquiries against five persons including three former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ministers.
According to a statement the decision has been taken during a meeting of the Executive Board of NAB headed by Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry.
The inquiries have been authorized against former Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul Haq for alleged illegal appointment of thirteen thousand teachers; former Federal Communications Minister Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan and his wife former MNA Asma Alamgir, and former Balochistan Minister for Excise and Taxation Muhammad Amin Umrani regarding accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
The bureau will also start probe against former Chairman Quetta Development Authority Muhammad Ismail Gujjar for alleged illegal transfer of government land, and former Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed and others for alleged misuse of authority and embezzlement of funds.
