Pakistan suspends readmission agreements with Western countries

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan has suspended readmission agreements with Western countries except United Kingdom because of its blatant misuse.

This was announced by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Friday afternoon.

He said under re-admission agreements, Pakistanis travelling illegally to any Western country were to be deported after proper verification. However, most of the countries are deporting them without verification by Pakistani authorities, and last year alone 90,000people were sent back to Pakistan.

The Minister said for the last several months another dangerous trend has emerged under which Pakistanis travelling abroad without documents are deported on charges of terrorism without verification whether or not they are actually Pakistanis.

To a question the Interior Minister said India’s true face stands exposed before the international community because of recent acts of violence against minorities especially Muslims.

Nisar Ali Khan said during Prime Minister’s visit to the United States, it was conveyed to the US leadership that there are double standards, as much hue and cry is raised on minor incidents in Pakistan but the world community including the United States keeps mum over burning alive of Muslims in India.

Replying to a question, he said a new operation is going to be launched in next few days against facilitators of terrorists.  He said these facilitators stand identified.

The Interior Minister said effective measures have been taken to address the problem of corruption in NADRA, FIA and CDA.
