JONAS BERG (Web Desk) – South Africa’s AB de Villiers has scored the fastest ODI one hundred runs off 31 balls against West Indies. He replaced Corey Anderson as the fastest cricketer of the world who had scored century off 36 balls.
De Villiers managed his one hundred runs by hitting 10 sixes and 8 fours with only 3 three dot balls with overall highest record of 16 sixes in an inning. He also maintained a strike rate of 354.
He was caught by Carter on 149 off 43 balls on the 49th over of the inning while South Africa scored 439, the second highest score in ODI with a run rate of 8.72 runs per over.
Previously the record was held by Corey Anderson of New Zealand for more than a year by breaking the record of Shahid Afrid who scored 100 off 37 balls.
